Amber is executive director of strategic communications for the Data Science Institute at Columbia University and previously served as a director of communications in the State University of New York system and as a public relations specialist for Rutgers University. She honed her editorial talents as beauty and accessories editor of UPTOWN and as content producer for nationally syndicated advice columnist and lifestyle author Harriette Cole. She was also a Patricia Roberts Harris Public Affairs Fellow in the Office of Congressman John Lewis (D-GA) and a Lionel C. Chapman Fellow for ABC News Nightline.
